I’m feeling like Drake from his 2007 song “Successful“, “I Just Wanna Be Successful“. It’s the end of the school year for me and I’ve been thinking is Nursing really for me? When I first started taking my Nursing classes in 2017; I knew I wanted to be a nurse but wasn’t sure if Nursing was the career for me. When you were growing up, you probably wanted to be a chef, doctor, nurse, lawyer, teacher, or police officer. Now that I’m in my early 20s, I have so much I want to do or think I want to accomplish in life.
Since I’ve been in Nursing school, I’ve realized a lot of things. In fact, I’ve decided to take a break from school to learn more about myself to see what is best for ME and my future. The world puts so much pressure on young adults going to school and doing a certain profession would automatically make them successful. Well, being successful is not only going to school and getting your degree, being successful is what YOU make it.
You do not have to be a lawyer, doctor, or nurse to be successful. Not saying the people in those professions aren’t successful, but there are other non-degree related professions that are successful.
Being successful takes time and consistency along with doing something you love to do. When we’re young, we often say we want to do this or that, but of course; things change as you get older and start to see things for what they really are. I sat down and thought of a few ways to be successful in what YOU want to do.
Stop comparing yourself to others
Comparing yourself to others and their business can cause you to think you should be in their position. Also, don’t think of failing, because then you’re setting yourself up for failure. Just think, someone else’s happiness is not your happiness. What’s meant for YOU, is for YOU, nobody else.
Consistency is the key
In the Merriam Webster Dictionary, consistent is defined as regularity or steady continuity. Consistency is very important when it comes to being successful. It requires you to commit to your business or career. You have to be persistent and consistent to get the results you want.
Don’t be afraid, take risks
Taking risks is a part of being successful. Things will not always go as planned. Taking risks gets you your results. It’s just like a lesson learned. Don’t think you’re going to fail at whatever you choose to do. Failing is not the option. If you have a failing mentality then you’re setting yourself up for failure. Don’t allow your past or present endeavors to lose your focus or dream. Take a risk, it’s apart of life’s many lessons.
Don’t give up on your dreams. Being successful is not easy. It requires work and plenty of time. Success is driven and earned. Don’t doubt yourself or thinking negatively upon the outcome. Whatever you decide to do with your life and future is your decision. Don’t allow anyone to tell you otherwise. Be great and valuable with whatever you decide to do!
